The beginning of Equipmii

Hi, I’m Claire, founder of Equipmii. A few people have asked me about my journey to creating Equipmii, so I thought I’d share my story—how it all began and where we are today. Let me know if any of it resonates with you!

During the pandemic, while the UK was isolating, I was balancing two jobs from home alongside raising a young family — a one-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter. It was a chaotic time, but exercise became my escape (big thanks to Joe Wicks for keeping me sane!).

However, it wasn’t long before my body started to feel the strain. Overcompensating on one side, I struggled with exercises that required equal balance across both hands. Mountain climbers, burpees, yoga—you name it, I couldn’t quite nail them.

I spent hours searching for solutions but came up empty-handed (pun intended). My spare room quickly turned into a graveyard for products I’d bought, hoping they’d help, only to face disappointment time and time again.

Eventually, I gave myself a pep talk: You have a problem—so let’s fix it.

And that’s what I did.

I designed my first two products to help me exercise safely.

One even helped me achieve my first-ever handstand—cue inner-child celebration! And being able to participate in yoga? That was a dream come true. Even more incredible, my products were eventually used by members of the GB Paralympics team.

This experience made me reflect on countless other similar experiences over the years, and I concluded that shopping needed to change to recognise people as the individuals we are.

Why weren’t processes and technology evolving to consider everyone? And why is it so hard to find products that are aligned with your individual needs

The spark behind Equipmii

But it doesn’t stop there. Our Equipmii Insights technology is set to revolutionise e-commerce. It transforms generic, one-size-fits-all product descriptions into descriptions that highlight what’s relevant for your body.
