Data Scientist and NLP Specialist

Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Scientist to join our team. Our innovative digital assistant prioritises users' specific requirements and provide tailored recommendations, streamlining purchasing decision-making and finding the best prices.

With our recent successful funding round, this role will be pivotal in shaping the success of our Minimum Viable Product (MVP).

Responsibilities:

  • Database Structuring: Design and implement a robust and efficient database structure to organise and securely store large volumes of customer data, ensuring accessibility and privacy.
  • Algorithm Development: Develop and deploy advanced algorithms to analyse customer data, extracting meaningful insights that enhance personalisation and optimise shopping experiences for individuals with physical impairments.
  • NLP Integration: Utilise NLP techniques and expertise to leverage the ChatGPT API, creating intelligent conversational interfaces that enhance user interactions and provide tailored recommendations.
  • Data Connection and Integration: Establish effective connections between diverse data sources and customer profiles, enabling comprehensive understanding of user preferences and needs.
  • Data Analysis and Visualisation: Apply statistical methods, machine learning techniques, and data visualisation tools to analyse and interpret data, uncovering patterns, trends, and actionable insights to drive business growth.
  • Collaborative Problem Solving: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and designers, to address business challenges, develop data-driven solutions, and optimise processes.
  • Model Evaluation and Optimisation: Continuously evaluate the performance and accuracy of models and algorithms, iteratively improving their effectiveness and efficiency.

The successful candidate for this role should be a self-starter who is capable of taking the lead on data science and database responsibilities, as they will initially work independently to establish and optimise these crucial components of our project.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.

Experience

Minimum of 1 years of practical experience as a Data Scientist, with a strong focus on database structuring, algorithm development, and NLP integration. Experience with the ChatGPT API is highly desirable.

Strong Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python, R, or similar languages commonly used in data science and machine learning.

Database Expertise: Solid understanding of database structures, data modelling, and data management principles. Proficiency in SQL or other database querying languages is required.

Algorithm Development: Proven track record of designing and implementing algorithms for data analysis, machine learning, and predictive modelling.

NLP Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in Natural Language Processing techniques and practical application, including working with NLP libraries, APIs, and frameworks.

Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical skills with the ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and extract actionable insights from large datasets.

Effective Communication: Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Role Details: The position will initially begin with a 3-4 day consultancy project in July/August, with the potential to transition to a full-time role starting in November/December. The initial consultancy project's successful completion will lead to a full-time position offering a salary of £50,000.
